Adventure Photo: Multistrada on the Slab

While filming our upcoming adventure series, Road to Ruins, Kevin Miklossy captured this stunning shot of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S at Slab City in south-eastern California.

Long Term Testing: Wolfgang and the Princess

Sometimes names stick, and if bikes have a temperament then our BMW R1200GS Adventure and the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring have earned theirs. So, respectively meet Wolfgang and the Princess.

Neil and the Machine versus Florence and the Machine

72 Hours, 3 days; waiting in anticipation it can seem an eternity, but three days to ride from Vancouver to Los Angeles? That can seem all too brief. And the deadline? The will call at the Wiltern for a sold out concert of Florence and the Machine. Conspiring against me the scheduling deities are cramming the ride with a border crossing, two business meetings, and pesky biological needs; eating, sleeping and washroom all taking time from a 2,048 kilometer direct route. So, it’s Neil and the Machine, a R1200GS Adventure, versus Florence and the Machine.

Road to Ruins: What’s in a Name? Fate.

West Hollywood – Sitting in a West Hollywood Starbucks the answer appears to be, “Fate”. Fate is what’s in a name. Shakespeare may have written, “What’s in a name? that which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet”, but do you think that’s really case? Red stink-poesy, that wouldn’t cut…

Neil and the Machine vs Florence and the Machine a Tweet-u-mentary

Tickets for up and comers and new U2 opening band Florence and the Machine Concert at the Wiltern have been offered up.  The problem is the concert is in Los Angeles on November 8th and the weather until now has been uncooperative. Watching the weather radar and forecasts like a hawk has revealed a rarity, a three day break.

Speeding & Impoundment: The 40km/h Solution

BC’s changes to the Motor Vehicle Act aim to get tough on speeders through the mandatory impoundment of vehicles exceeding the posted limit by 40 km/h. The question is, will the new laws have the desired effect on riders?

The End of Motorcycling? Not a Chance.

Pick up a phone and talk to a PR Manager for a motorcycle company, and inevitably “budget” comes up in the conversation. In a chat, a fellow publisher is concerned over a lack of press launches this year; they boost readership, but this journalistic perk also represents a major industry expense. Adding to the gloom…

KTM “Hard Adventure” 690 Enduro R Project: Protective Thoughts

I’ve just come back from a shake down ride to Mt. Baker and back, and the KTM 690 Enduro R travel 260km with fuel to spare, which is further than my ass is willing to go in a single sitting on the stock seat. That range is thanks to the install of the Rally-Raid Products Tanks Kit (expect a full review and video of the install in coming weeks) and MotoMethod.com, who provided the shop space and tools for the install. Still, the issue of wind protection on longer rides like the run to Baker is a concern.

Social Spannering with Motomethod: An Old School Shop with a New Twist

Rolling into Vancouver on an around the world tour, my BMW F650GS was in a state; the suspension pre-load was broken, the bike was stalling, there was a mysterious loss of power, the water pump was due for replacing… the list wear and tear was long and growing. I needed a shop, and what I found was something much more useful and unique: Motomethod.

KTM “Hard Adventure” 690 Enduro R Project – Range

At 206km the engine sputters, then dies on an uphill 18kms from the nearest gas in Tulameen. It’s not a shock or surprise, I’ve been waiting for the KTM 690 Enduro R to run dry for some time now. Exactly how long I’m unsure, the R’s the dash is resetting with every shut down of…

Multistrada 1200 S Feedback Fills the Gaps

Reviewing is constrained by time and word count, which leads to gaps in evaluations no matter how thorough you try to be. Luckily, we’ve a couple standout commenters join the conversation following our Multistrada 1200 S review. The review is as comprehensive as we could make it, indeed we needed to break it into two…
