A Baja Mexico dirtbiking tradition Mike’s Sky Ranch is a mecca of motorsport, a stop point on the Baja 1000 and a hangout with one challenging driveway. While it seems like ours are the first Honda Varadero’s to reach Mike’s, the question remains will they make it back out? A bent rim brings us to a halt, and begs the next question, “Is this repairable?”
Another cool video. The road looked like it was in better shape than when I last visited, but most of the pre-runners had been through ahead of me, so it was used up. I like the rim repair with the rock-we’ve used that same method to pound out bent foot pegs and other metal bits that somehow become deformed when you stuff it. And water-I always carry a camelback when I’m out there just so I have a chance. You just never know what can happen. I made the choice to go on a solo ride outside San Felipe last trip and realized that I’d be in real trouble if I balled it up with no one around, so no more of that. Anyway, I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Dan

Dan,
There were a few rougher sections. For the most part what slowed us down on the big bikes was sand. Glad to hear we weren’t alone in our methodologies.
Cheers,
Neil
