We’ve cut the day short and landed in West Wendover, Nevada. I use “we” in a sweeping sense as I’ve come down ill and the GT1000 and I have been riding in the support vehicle for the day. No great sacrifice though, this transit of the “droneways”, our newly minted term for interstates, has taken us to its highlight – the Montego Bay.
This casino and hotel complex is an unabashed emulation of a 70s Las Vegas casino but without the good taste, making it magnificently tacky. With rooms decorated in the ponciest shades of blue, green and purple going to $60.00 we couldn’t resist booking in based as the camp factor alone.
I contemplated asking to roll the GT1000 into the casino so we could photograph the overwrought neon gleaming off the chrome, but the staff didn’t strike me as open minded… or even friendly.
